I’m writing to you today with a very important decision I had to make regarding our monthly rituals.

Since the onset of this pandemic, our family has managed to persevere through all the hardships that have come our way. Thankfully, my husbands work was deemed essential and Magickal Folk was able to reopen after a confusing period of initial shutdowns. We are grateful and fortunate that we have not lost or suffered the way so many are right now.

Unfortunately, though, my kids were not as lucky as we were in this aspect. Alice was in kindergarten & Ryatt in 1st grade when the schools shut down. The new year started out so rough in virtual that we unenrolled them and started 100% independent homeschooling. Thinking schools were going to restart in January, we figured we could push though and do it all for just a few more months.

Now, I’m being told the school has room for Ryatt in 2nd grade but they are short on 1st grade teachers for Alice so she will have to stay in homeschool, go back the crap program on virtual, or go to another school via inter-district transfer…. if they reopen January 5th. And, if they do, its only for 1.5 hours a day and they are not promising if my daughter does get in, she will have the same start/end times as her brother. So, for me that means potentially 4 trips to school each day, at possibly two different schools in January. Crazy right?

I am already in a difficult position where my workload is too much causing me to either disappoint you or them because I do not have the time to do it all. Something must give…

The thing that I can do both very well if I adjust a few things. Before, when the kids could go to school or daycare, the subscription model worked great. Now, with the never-ending supply chain interruptions, forced quarantines and a new load of lesson plans, allowing subscription pre-orders is attached to too much risk of failure. Its no longer responsible or healthy for me to take on so many orders and promise a timely delivery.

Last month, my staffed was forced into quarantine during our pack week. Thankfully, we were already alternating shifts in the shop and she had not yet been to work since she was exposed so I did not get exposed and was able to do everything-but the kids didn’t get to do school that week.

This month, three of our suppliers were severely backed up causing a delay in receiving our standard materials then the post office was so impacted, it took over a week for many packages to even receive an acceptance scan. It is now the 29th and some priority mail packages are still in route 9 days later.

Its disappointing, and frankly not worth the trouble of sticking to an outdated way that is no longer serving anyone like it did.

So here is the plan. I have disabled (not cancelled) all renewals for January. I am ng this is temporary. I will continue to curate and create the ritual boxes and workshops as normal, but I will only publish/reveal what is ready to ship immediately. If we are forced into quarantine or something else comes up where we cannot ship or prepare products. We will simply make them temporarily unavailable so were not holding your money and failing to deliver. This will allow me to be always present and available in the areas I am most needed.

I feel like this new method will balance the scales and provide some space so I can be more active online and in ritual for us both.

I plan to provide a shop update for the curated items/rituals/kits on Sunday, January 10th. I will then revisit the February subscriptions towards the end of January and make a judgement call then on the February 1st renewals.

In the meantime, I have something else new and exciting to report! We launched a Magickal Folk App in google play & apple iTunes store!! You can download the app and set up notifications so you can receive alerts for all news & updates, plus you can shop directly within the app and create a Wishlist!  The goal here is to create a consistent steam of communication that’s reliable. Too many emails we send get spammed and you don’t always see our social media posts so were hoping this solves all things communication wise!

To find the app simply go to the app store and search “Magickal Folk”
