A Heathen altar space varies widely based on the individual practitioner and the Deities in which you have the deepest connection with. An altar for a Blot in honor of a specific deity normally contains a drinking horn with the liquids to be drank and offered along with a picture or carved statue of the deity. Other items such as candles, flowers, tools, and inscriptions are also be present but vary on the depth of the relationship, items needed for the blot and personal preferences of the deity.
In Old Norse, there are three words for Runic Talismans. They are 1) teinn “tine”, which is a piece of wood or twig fashioned to a talismanic object 2) hlutr, which may be any object used for talismanic or divinatory purposes 3) taufr, which means talisman and magick in general and refers to runecraft.
A tine is a living thing that has a fate to live out. When inscribing a runic symbol, you are giving the object life and magically providing it with its fate or “orlog” through the nature of the runic power its symbol holds. According to Edred Thorrson, the rune tine acts as a key to unlock the power of a rune. This is the point where the natural and supernatural come together to infuse into the object.Once the tine is loaded with magickal power, it then unloads as its fate is destined. Constructing a talismanic rune with success does require the practitioner or “runester” to have suitable knowledge in rune lore, psychic abilities and Rites of the Old Norse. This is a general principle that applies to all magickal applications.
The more you know the stronger the magick!
Runic talismans can be inscribed on just about any object but are most commonly found on wood, metal, bone, stone, leather or paper. Runes were inscribed with blood or pigment that is sympathetic to the aim of the talisman. Madder Powder is natural reddish-orange dye derived from the extract of the madder plant's root (rubia tinctorum). To the Norse, red represents magickal might, protective power, and spiritual life and vigor. Madder powder can be mixed with linseed oil to create an ink which is then used to stain the etched grooves in wood or leather. It can also be added dry to the etched grooves and burned in.
The Cross of Odin is a sacred symbol to the Norse as the Solar Wheel represents strength and protection of the Sun in the heavens driving out the cold and darkness. My husband and I gathered cedar branches for the outer circle and lodgepole pine branches for the cross. It is tied with black hemp string and adorned with a black feather. Hang in your home to bring vitality and energy during the dark half of the year.
Current Subscription Box Themes
November - Cauldron Goddesses
Subscription products work a bit differently than placing a regular online order. When you place a subscription order you are doing two things
- You are signing up for a reoccurring billing subscription.
- You are placing an order.
Cancelling a reoccurring subscription will not cancel the current order that has already been paid for - only prevent future orders from being placed. The whole process can be confusing and I often see people subscribe then cancel so they only receive 1 box and I also see people subscribe then wish to cancel both the subscription and the order. Sometimes we order an extra kit by accident or even the wrong one! The variable is endless but in any case, we do not assume you want a refund when you cancel a subscription. You have to contact us!
If you have canceled a subscription and need to cancel the order as well you can submit an email me and I will get that done within 2 business days. We manage accounts on Fridays but try to get the refunds returned same day!! Orders cannot be refunded once they have been processed for shipping.
If you have already placed an order and discovered the address is incorrect, please contact us directly so we can update your shipping label then go into your Account and edit your subscription(s) with the correct address.
Returned Order from the USPS
It has become a bit troublesome for both ends. I get boxes back that we need to investigate & process and you don't get your box on time! It's a big bummer.
I have it set up so you receive an invoice with your order showing your shipping address and then a tracking email when your order ships. This notification is sent early so you can check your address and, hopefully, we can catch it and correct it before it is too late.
Due to limited resources to manage accounts, we only process retuned boxes on Fridays. If a box is returned to me, we will hold it and send an email notification asking what you would like to do.
At this point, we can do two things
- We can hold your package and reship it with your next order for free
- Refund the order minus the actual shipping paid + a processing fee of $2.00.
If we do not hear back from you by the following Friday, the order will be automatically refunded. We are a very small shop, I hope you know we will do everything we can to help you out. I know you want your package but we can only do what we can do!!
To avoid being rebilled in the future under the same invalid address. I will also cancel your subscription:( This is not because I don't want you as a customer, this is simply because the billing is automatic and I don't want to continue billing you with an invalid address. When you come in to reactivate your account and fix your address your account will be renewed!
This saves us both time, money & confusion! TEAMWORK you & me against autofill! Ha!
Begins to transmit once the mailpiece ships. A tracking email is auto emailed to your account email via shipstation. Once the package ships, it will plug into your account page. Notifications are sent using a mail server. Some email service providers spam these email blasts!! To make sure you get these emails please add the following 2 emails to your safe sender's list:
firstname.lastname@example.org and Support@magickalfolk.desk-mail.com
You may return most new, unopened items within 7 days of delivery for a refund minus shipping price paid if you are unhappy with the order. We do not pay the return shipping costs.
You should expect to receive your refund within two weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases, you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (3 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply send me an email! We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
