The dragon comes in many forms and has a range of symbolical meanings, but its central role has undoubtedly been its representation of the opus, the alchemical work and process itself. The work has often times been described "to proceed from the one and leads back to the one". A common alchemical symbol, called "the mandala of alchemy" by C.G. Jung, is the ouroboros: the circular dragon biting its own tail; the representation of what proceeds from the one and leads back to the one, the "dragon that devours himself and as a dragon he dies, to rise again as the lapis [philosopher's stone]"

The dragon has been used as one of the many symbols for prima materia, the primeval substance and basis of the work and one of the most heard of secrets of alchemy. Furthermore, the dragon symbolizes one of the very central themes in the work of alchemy, which is the conjunction of the opposites. It is represented by the earthly principle of the serpent and the heavenly principle of the wings of a bird. The dragon is often referred to as serpens mercurii, "mercurial dragon" where mercury in alchemical terms refers quicksilver, but in a symbolical context meaning the creative, animated spirit within: the "living silver", argentum vivum, "metallic yet liquid, matter yet spirit, cold yet fiery, poison and yet healing drought - a symbol uniting all opposites".

It should be pointed out that one cannot expect to achieve a comprehensive understanding of a single alchemical symbol in a short text. Further investigations on concepts such as prima materia and mercury represented by Mercurius etc. would be necessary for a deeper understanding, but hopefully by gathering piece by piece of the great jigsaw puzzle one can slowly start to see the shapes of the picture it is supposed to represent as a whole as one slowly unveils the secrets of alchemy.

We offer monthly subscription boxes full of magical items. Seasoned practitioners’ channel seasonal energy to curate our ritual boxes with the intention to empower your journey to spirit, witchcraft and spell casting, and help facilitate a connection with spirit and nature.

Every month, you receive a handcrafted box of herbs, healing crystals, ritual oils, incenses, candles, and many more tools you will need for pathworking within the wheel of the year. In addition, we provide an extensive monthly workshop filled with corresponding seasonal myths and deities, spiritual alchemy, energy and bodywork, herbalism, spirit communication, affirmations and journaling for pathworking, hedge riding, kitchen witching, astrological forecasts, ritual work, and magick for the month.

We believe in empowering witches. For this reason, we choose not to provide word-for-word written spells or step-by-step instructions with our rituals. This is to encourage you to step into your power and create your own magick.

We strongly believe providing our spells and step-by-step instructions inhibits your intuitive abilities to create the connection needed to effectively cast spells and create meaningful experiences. Therefore, we provide the tools and support and you bring in your own energy with your incantations and words to create this meaningful experience.

We understand there must be a balance to these left (instructions) and right (intuition) brain activities. This is why we provide additional support, perspective, and guidance by way of the online workshop and social media presence with our private group.

If you are a new witch, looking for guidance, we have a large community of practitioners. Feel free to join our Facebook group, Magickal Folk Anam Cara, or follow us on Instagram!
